Facts & Figures LookSmart make
most of their money from selling their directory to 3rd parties, with the most
notable being MSN, Excite and AltaVista (as at Nov 2000). They were founded in
Australia by Tracey Ellery and Evan Thronley, October 1995. Until recently their
small size and terrible navigation system made them a very poor cousin to Yahoo
indeed. Of late they have picked up their game and are on par with Yahoo and Open

bought Wisenut for USD$9.25million and plans to integrate it with their directory Size:
2.3 million links, 200,000 categories and 200 editors (full-time, paid)
